Proxy server allow other computer to access internet by acting as a buffer between host(internet server) and client(your computer). In a large organization it allows many computer to access Internet with only a single Internet connection thus saving cost and with many advanced feature it also provide security, filtering, and increased connection speed through cache.
Web-based proxy server provide easy access to other sites through web browser without having to install any software or change browser setting. Web-based proxy usually provide user with an URL box to type in destination URL to start browsing anonymously. There are a few scripts available to run web-based proxy service, most famous are phpproxy and cgi-proxy.

We are performing system upgrade again. This time we will slowly moving some of our site to a new dual Xeon Clovertown. If you find one of our site doesn't working, try switch to the other sites. This upgrade will last until end of February. Thank you for your patience :)
Update: Upgrade done! We still keep an eye on the new server to see how it's perform. So far so good. We have to take down PHProxy once again because FastCGI doesn't like it. It spawn lots of process that using lots of ram each, very bad thing! We will try to find a solution to that. |
